►[House Program] 2025 [Weiwuying Music Camp] Faculty Concert: Saxophone Rhapsody
The 2025 Weiwuying Music Camp makes its exciting debut, bringing five days of music activities featuring three spectacular concerts. On opening night, the Faculty Concert gathers internationally acclaimed instructors on stage, allowing audiences to experience the brilliance of these masters up close.
This saxophone showcase will bring together an impressive international lineup, including Vincent DAVID and Philippe GEISS from France, Valentin KOVALEV from Russia, and Makoto HONDO from Japan. Joined by the camp faculty and the MIT Saxophone Ensemble, they will play a thrilling range of solo, quartet, and large ensemble works, revealing the full spectrum of the saxophone's sonic possibilities.
Award-winning Korean-American organist Grace OH joins KOVALEV for a dynamic interplay in their interpretation of Tomaso Antonio VITALI's classic Chaconne in G Minor, blending the rich sounds of pipe organ and saxophone.
Adding to the excitement, Philippe GEISS will present the Taiwan premiere of one of his original compositions, along with several dazzling arrangements. Admission is free, with a ticket reservation required. Don't miss this extraordinary night of music!
For those wanting more, be sure to return on the evening of July 25 for our grand finale, "Variations of Ensemble: Pipe Organ Meets Saxophone," which will serve as a vibrant conclusion to this summer's musical journey.
