Launching Ceremony of 2025 Mapping Taiwan Dance Memories Project and "Voices in Dialogue" Forum
Piecing Together Taiwan's Dance Memories
Since 2016, the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) has been dedicated to developing and advancing Taiwan's dance landscape through performances, new works presentations and artistic exchanges at the biannual Taiwan Dance Platform. We believe that every step, every performance, and every individual contributes an indispensable piece to the mosaic of Taiwan's dance histories.
Commissioned by the Ministry of Culture, Weiwuying launches the Mapping Taiwan Dance Memories Project - an initiative to preserve the precious, deeply rooted memories of Taiwan dance development through oral histories and research. By tracing the intricate, interwoven stories of many contributors, the project aims to gradually reveal a living and evolving map of Taiwan's dance heritage.
On December 7th, we will host the Launching Ceremony and Forum to officially announce the Project. It will gather performers, choreographers, educators, researchers and enthusiasts from Taiwan's dance community. Together, we will reflect the past and the present of dance historiography in Taiwan, embarking on the journey to document our shared memories.
We warmly invite you to witness the start of this important endeavour and lay the foundation for the future of dance in Taiwan.
