Sistema Europe
Founded in 2012, Sistema Europe is a network of European organisations and individuals carrying out activities true to the principles of Venezuela's famous music for social action programme, El Sistema. The Network consists of more than a hundred programme centres in around 30 European countries. As part of the international Sistema movement, Sistema Europe assists its programmes in positively transforming the lives of children, young people and their families in communities from every section of society through the practice of orchestral and ensemble music-making.
The programmes use orchestral and other music activities as powerful agents of development, inclusion & integration; provide access for young people with the least resources and the greatest need; foster stimulating learning environments enabling children to swiftly progress towards excellence; ensure high quality immersive, intense and joyful teaching, including peer learning and regular performances; and deepen connections to community networks, developing the Venezuelan núcleo model.
